Tom's Gaming blog #1
If you keep up with world news, you must've heard the term gaming. Gaming is a hobby,
which basically is just people who play and are interested in computer games.
There are many opinions on gaming. The most popular one is, that some games are too much brutal for children. But my argument is, that instead of complaining about games being brutal, the parents shouldn't buy their kids games whose PEGI (Pan European Game Information), doesn't correspond with their children. PEGI includes advised minimal age of the player, inappropriate themes and different phobias, that might be in the game.
But back to opinions of gaming, one of the positive opinions, with which I agree, is that games actually help
children learn things, maybe not shooting games, but simulators etc., but for example I learned a big part of my English from games. It is scientifically proven, that games improve reflection speed and perception.
I don't want to talk just about the public opinion, but also about gaming news. One of the most important is, that the new game console, called PlayStation 5, has been introduced to the public and is very close to release. This console is from Sony and many people say, that it looks like a Wifi router, but overall, I think it looks good. There is a joke going around on social media, people tape two papers on the sides of a black box and weirdly, it accurately resembles the console.
From another side of gaming, the famous gaming conference E3 has been cancelled. If you don't know anything about, it is the conference, where a meme (internet joke) was created. The joke is about the actor Keanu Reeves, who responded "no, you're breathtaking" just after somebody in the crowd said the same to him and if you don't have an idea after this clue, search it on the internet.
The gaming industry were one of few, who profited off of the Covid-19 crisis. Because people were locked inside, they didn't have anything to do, so they bought a game and spent most of quarantine playing it. Personally, the game in my case is a Nintendo game called Animal crossing: New Horizons. The game was released the same week, the schools closed down (how lucky). It is a game for Nintendo switch (game console), where you live on an island with cute animal friends and you try virtual gardening and decorating, but the main goal of the game is to have fun, you can catch fish, bugs and hunt for fossils, which you can donate to the museum.
As you might have noticed, I am very passionate about gaming and I used this blog to share my opinions and thoughts on the theme.

I'd like to hear more about the benefits of gaming and how certain skills are developed. Also, do you have any thoughts about time spent gaming? What are your thoughts about professional gamers?
ReplyDeleteBenefits of gaming is not a particularly clear theme. But I'd say that benefits of gaming are experiences from different situations, even though they weren't real. Skills like reflection are developed when someone has to react very quick, by practising on shooter games, the skill improves. People shouldn't spend most of their free time on games, but as entertainment, when you have to be locked up inside an apartement, it's the only activity toghether with watching the tv. Professional Gamers should deserve more attention, as they also have skills, as skills that are above the average deserve some attention.
DeleteThank you for your comment.

DeleteBarry is sad :(
DeleteI don't care.
DeleteHello Tomáš, very interesting and informing blog
ReplyDeleteDoes gaming take up most of your free time? If not, what does?
ReplyDeleteI have to say that it takes up a big part of my free time.
DeleteWhat do you think about people breaking rules about their age to play a specific game (e.g.Fortnite)
ReplyDeleteIt isn't a rule, it is an advice of the minimal age of the player.
